SEO Link Building - Quality Vs Quantity
Most people know that inbound links are an important part of improving your websites ranking, but you should focus your link building SEO efforts on obtaining a large quantity of links can be obtained easily from where you can get, or focus on getting high quality links that are typically more difficult to achieve? Most experts agree that link building is the quantity and quality are important, and in most cases (although there are exceptions), any link to your website helps. However, because of how Google and other search engines value links, focusing your efforts on the quality of SEO link building is most often the best choice. So, what makes a link to "quality links" and because the quality is more important than quantity?
To better understand why the quality is more important than the amount we need to see link building SEO point of view of Google. Google places a value in each and every web site that indexes. The most popular measure of a website and the website is the value of Google PageRank. Google assigns each web page a ranking of 0-10 as a measure of his authority. Web pages with a ranking of zero are generally very new and insignificant. Web pages with a list of ten leading an unprecedented amount of authority. An example of a web page or web site with a degree or equal to zero may be a new blog or a website for a new small pet store. An example of PageRank of ten would be the Google.com or USA.gov. Google considers links from websites with a PageRank higher being more important than links that come from web sites with a lower PageRank. However, it is important to understand that Google is not a linear scale of 1-10, but the authority of a website increases exponentially with increasing PageRank. In other words, a website with a RageRank of 1 has about 10 times the authority of a site with a PageRank of 0, but a site with a PageRank of 5 has about 100,000 the authority of a website with a PageRank of 0. This means that a good link from a website with a PageRank of 5 can be much more powerful than 100 or maybe even 1000 links from a site with a PageRank of 0.
In addition to PageRank, there are many other factors that determine the quality of a connection of focus and because your SEO link building efforts on getting quality links is more important to focus on link quantity. Importance of the link is perhaps the most important. If your site is about snowboarding that a link to your site from another web site that deals with tropical fish is not going to do a lot of good. A site of snowboarding needs power connections from other sites and web pages that are also snowboarding. When examining a link to Google looks to the surrounding text on the web page and the anchor text as a way to determine if that link is from a trusted source. The anchor text is the text that contains the link itself. So, if you snowboard shop of Dr. Shred (fictitious company) wants to rank high in Google for "Snowboarding Gear" keyword search term the link to Dr. Shred should come from a web page's text and snowboard gear leading to the anchor is clicked http:// www.drshreads.com should read "snowboarding gear" rather than simply http://www.drshreds.com. Relevance is the reason to get dozens or even hundreds of links from irrelevant sources are not as effective in improving some sites classified as a bit 'of links from highly relevant sources .......
