Facilitation techniques for Certified Six Sigma Team


Facilitators must have good sense of timing skills, listening and observation and sensitivity to group dynamics in general. Facilitation is not just to fix the problems, but that allows groups or teams of training solutions to various problems for the success of projects.

Role of Change Agent

Commonly, Six Sigma teams should assume the role of change agents at various points. These agents of change that need to communicate to people about the changes taking place. These skills are necessary to facilitate the overall activities of the group.

Change agents need to have communication skills, meeting management capabilities, skills and presentation skills presentation preparation. They must possess good powers of observation to understand the nonverbal cues of group members.

Shared Responsibility

The team leader and facilitator share responsibility for conflict management. The facilitator may also be a member of the external team. This is necessary when there is clear prejudice and mistrust among members of teams or rivalries between individuals and organizations. Some people may feel free to communicate with an impartial external facilitator.

A facilitator can focus on problem solving and allow others to focus on the immediate needs of the project. When it comes to timely decisions in crisis situations, a facilitator can help to speed. They should be neutral about the issues they are dealing.

Techniques

To cope with various situations of the team, the facilitator can conduct open view of the topic with team members, and restrict the considerations to achieve closure through decision-making. To begin, the facilitator encourages the team members to brainstorm possible solutions to the problem.

To make effective the meeting, the facilitator often invite meeting participants to generate guidelines for discussion. Encourage participants to generate guidelines ensures that everyone participates. Once this stage is completed, the facilitator should add up all the new ideas that can play an important role in solving problems.

Having all the participants to answer each question can make all actively participate. The facilitator can bring new ideas with the introduction of a simple object relative to the case study problem.

After opening the discussion of brainstorming, narrowing of the contributing factors is needed. This can be done by eliminating duplication and seek clarification of points that could be interpreted differently by different participants. Categorize items also helps to find solutions quickly.

The facilitator can then use prioritization techniques to find items of interest higher for participants who may feel that some points are irrelevant, but may still be arguing. This will provide a starting point for decision making.

The facilitators should work to help the Six Sigma team leader with realistic project schedules to achieve the objectives that have worked out. Even conflict can lead to encouraging member participation in solving the problem.

The facilitator is in a position of neutral observation of the working group and provide feedback and guidance to the team. Thus, internal or external facilitators have an important role to play in the success of Six Sigma projects .......
